In the town of Greensville, where Cannabis is recently legal, Thomas (Timothy Delaghetto) and Anthony (Anthony Guajardo) run the best pizza joint in town, Phu-King Pizza! They have a deal in place with ex-dealer-turn-business-man, Playa Playa (Noel G), to use his most coveted strain, "Jamaican Goddess," and infuse it directly in to the pizza sauce. Just as business is looking up, they discover on pay day that the $20k owed to Playa Playa has been stolen. The duo, along with their band of misfit employees, are given until midnight to pay the debt... or else.

Two Italian families own competitive pizza restaurants and have had an ongoing family feud since long ago in the 'old country'. In Toronto, Nickie and Emily have an immediate mutual attraction to each other the first time they speak to the other, although they have seen each other before in their general travels. In the course of their dating and becoming exclusive with each other, they fall in love. It isn't until this exclusivity that each learns the other is a damaged soul. Nickie, raised in England, moved to Toronto following the disappearance of his younger brother, and has worked one service job after another, landing on being a cabbie, in generally behaving like a zombie in his day-to-day life in his inability to cope. He also has a cool relationship with his parents, Katherine and William, because of the situation. His seeming only outlet to express his grief is the occasion fit of temper accompanied by some form of violence, even though he inherently is not a violent person. Emily, an aspiring artist, suffers from bipolar disorder, medication, which she often does not take, and adhering to a "system" which can control her swings. Her well-off father and stepmother, Jacob and Marie, still try to control her life in what they consider knowing what is best to help her. These circumstances affect Nickie and Emily's relationship as well whether there is a long term future for the two of them together.

In Los Angeles, psychologist Wendy Brown witnessed her abusive brother-in-law beat up her sister, who eventually died from her injuries. During that incident, Wendy shot him dead in self-defense. To get away from that nightmare, she has moved to the small town of Corinth, Oregon, located in an emerging ski area. In Corinth, she has temporarily opened up her home, which she calls Comfort House, as a refuge for battered women, while she builds a more permanent Comfort House on her acreage. She has found that there is a culture of wife beating in Corinth, especially among the hyper-masculine hunting crowd. The police do nothing about reports of abuse as the sheriff, "Bear" Trapp, is included within that hunting crowd, his friends who are among the accused wife beaters, most of that crowd's wives who are currently residing at Comfort House. When one of those husbands is found shot dead in his home, Sheriff Trapp, taking the path of least resistance, rules the death a suicide, and refuses to follow-up. However, his deputy, a man named Curtis who has just started dating Wendy, believes it was murder. Curtis' murder theory gains greater plausibility when another husband of a Comfort House resident is found dead. At the same time, Wendy notices that she is being stalked by someone driving a dark colored pickup truck, she believing her stalker's end goal being to implicate her as the murderer. Wendy and Curtis try to find out who is killing the husbands, and whether more are targeted in order to protect Wendy both from her stalker and from Trapp, who already does not like Wendy and will use whatever excuse to charge her. If Wendy and Curtis do discover the truth, they will find a plot more complicated than they first imagined.
